Descriptosaurus is one of my highly recommended books to help children with creative writing. This not only will help in the 11+ exams but is also recommended in secondary schools as well. So it is a book that you would need for a long time. The book provides nouns, verbs and adjectives for different scenes like Landscapes, characters etc. and will be a great asset for the children preparing for 11+.

A definitive recommended book for improving grammars. The book covers a wide range of topics like Noun, Pronouns, Adjectives, Antonyms, Synonyms, Homonyms and Homophones and many more topics. Again one of those books that you would need in secondary school as well.

I was not aware of this book till I bought it as a second hand book from a parent. If you are looking for questions that are bit tricky and hard, it’s worth trying this book.

The secrets of Writing  provides excellent tips, structures and questions which help in the 11+ exams. Again one of those books that will be of use beyond 11+ exams. Secret of writing provides examples and shows the examiner’s thought process and the mark given calling out what to avoid. Great book overall.

When I realised, my daughter was not getting good with poetry-comprehensions, I bought “Letts – Poetry” which was quite helpful. The book contains different poetry styles and also contains helpful tips that gave her a good confidence.
